Why Participate In the Formation of This Emerging Group under the Canadian Nurses Association?
-
•Among the many members of the CNA are a select number of nurses working in the field of Dermatology and Skin Science.
-
-
•The Skin, and the science of it, creates interconnectivity with many other specialties such as burns, plastics, wound healing, trauma, solid organ transplant and enterostomal therapy nursing.
-
-
•Currently these groups have separate meetings and often the knowledge and expertise is not shared although many of our issues and concerns are similar.
-
-
•The time has come for nurses to work together and collaborate on conditions that affect the most visible part of the body (skin, hair and nails).
-
-
•The Dermatology nursing role is changing and as physician shortages escalate there is a greater need for nurses trained in the field of Dermatology and Skin Science.
-
-
•Nurses working together can increase the amount of nursing research related to the Skin Sciences and advance nurses’ credibility in this area.
-
-
•Collectively working together we can enhance patient outcomes.
